Aims and Scope

Addiction Research is dedicated to advancing the understanding of addiction and its impact on individuals and society. Our journal serves as a platform for researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and educators to share innovative research, evidence-based practices, and insightful commentary on all aspects of addiction.

Aims

  • Promote Scientific Knowledge: To disseminate high-quality, peer-reviewed research that contributes to the scientific understanding of addiction, including its causes, mechanisms, and consequences.
  • Inform Policy and Practice: To provide evidence that can inform policy decisions, clinical practices, and public health strategies aimed at preventing and treating addiction.
  • Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration: To encourage collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from diverse fields such as psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, public health, and social work.
  • Support Emerging Research: To highlight and support emerging research areas and innovative methodologies in addiction science.

Scope

  • Substance Use Disorders: Research on the epidemiology, etiology, prevention, and treatment of substance use disorders, including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco, opioids, stimulants, and other psychoactive substances.
  • Behavioral Addictions: Studies on non-substance-related addictive behaviors such as gambling, gaming, internet use, and other compulsive behaviors.
  • Neuroscience of Addiction: Insights into the neural mechanisms underlying addiction, including brain imaging studies, neurobiological research, and genetic and epigenetic factors.
  • Psychosocial Factors: Examination of the social, cultural, and psychological factors that contribute to addiction, including studies on family dynamics, peer influences, and socioeconomic status.
  • Intervention and Treatment: Evaluation of prevention strategies, treatment modalities, and rehabilitation programs, including pharmacological, behavioral, and psychosocial interventions.
  • Policy and Public Health: Analysis of policies, programs, and public health initiatives aimed at reducing the burden of addiction and its associated harms.
  • Innovative Approaches: Exploration of novel and emerging approaches to understanding and addressing addiction, including digital health interventions, harm reduction strategies, and integrative care models.

Addiction Research welcomes original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case studies, and commentary pieces that contribute to the field of addiction science.
